Everyone has their own system of picking a winner. On Stakes Day there’ll be nine races hitting the track and I’m determined to pick at least one winner. In an attempt to find the best “system”, I’ve polled the office, unfortunately without much luck. Suggestions ranged from choosing the jockey with the brightest hat, picking the horse with the best sounding name or throwing a dart at the Form guide. So now I’m looking to you, what is the best way of picking a red hot winner?

HI
at the track there will be the form guide on sale for a few dollars.
At the end of each race’s form for the horses there will be a rating given by several sources with their top four picks. If the market odds shorten for any of the top four picks then that is a pretty good way of telling where the smart money is going. Just like today when the odds went 10:1, 11:1 and back to 9:1 for number 21, Shocking.
Works for us. We bet once in a blue moon but it works
bon chance

Paul, I hear it all comes down to the firmness of the track, the jockey and recent form of the horse. Simple as that! Having said that I have never picked a winner! Hmmmm…. I wonder if horses like Rhodiola?

I think its only fair if Raymond & Julia give us their tips…they’re so good at picking winners for Emma Page Collections!
We’re all winners just for qualifiying to be there anyway! Have fun everyone!

I like Rod Taylor’s comment on Rhodiola! If anything to go by for us humans, I am sure horses will ROC* the race.

I didn’t get any of that…My grandma always insisted on backing the Grey! Simple for me! Plus there is jockey with the same name of my brother and he rides well! Bring on saturday!

Well judging by the smiling faces on Sunday we all came out winners….
Of course some won money at the races, others at the casino. However for racing style with ‘show me the money’ Raymond and I loved Sophie Thompson’s Mystery $10 Bet which won her a cool $967.40!!!! So much for reading the form guide, following the trainer, picking a jockey’s colours, liking a name, etc. etc. !!!

It was fantastic! Woo hoo! We had so much fun. The people, the food, the fashion, the horses and all the wonderful experiences. We even managed to see “Swan Lake” on our “free night out”. One thing I can’t work out – why were there empty cages at the “Spice Kitchen”?.
We had a magnificent time. Thank you to the Emma Page Team – it will be a tough one to beat in 2010, but I am sure you will do it.

Because you have to guarantee a minimum spend of $800 to book a cage rather than be in the mosh pit!

Have just arrived home from sunny wonderful Melbourne , we’ve had such a ball, been thoroughly pampered & spoilt, lavished in luxury with our wonderful Emma Page family! The whole EP team and the Amway team who spent the weekend with us too can take a bow for a fantastic event!
As for Flemington, we put a whole new meaning to the phrase”what goes on @ the races stays @ the races!!”
